Club Forget Me Not http://clubforgetmenot.org A Club We are All Glad Exists Sat, 16 Mar 2024 17:22:42 +0000 en-US hourly 1 https://wordpress.org/?v=6.1.1 http://clubforgetmenot.org/wp-content/uploads/2019/02/cropped-Forget-Me-Not-Logo-3-2019-1-1-32x32.jpg Club Forget Me Not http://clubforgetmenot.org 32 32 Club Forget Me Not Takes Over Breckenridge! http://clubforgetmenot.org/2024/03/16/club-forget-me-not-takes-over-breckenridge/ Sat, 16 Mar 2024 17:22:38 +0000 https://clubforgetmenot.org/?p=1363 If you found yourself on the streets of Breckenridge on March 9th you likely saw several herds of Forget Me Notters smiling and enjoying an amazing a great scavenger hunt. The whole weekened was filled with an array of fun Breck activities. The campers were total troopers as we were a bit more rustic than usual, keeping warm with only a fire, and no outlets to charge our devices really allowed us to connect and spend quality time together, playing games, and most importantly laughing and being joyful!

Saturday started in our usual stomping grounds of The Breckenridge Outdoor Education Center, before we took our large crew to access our artistic sides. Ready, Paint, Fire offered a great opportunity for everyone to show us just how creative they can be. The crew at RPF was so warm and welcoming and is a great place to take any group in Breckenridge! This was the quietest we have heard the CFMN family as they were so intent on their painting prowess. What a fun start to the day!

Next, it was on to a scavenger hunt around town created by Cat. Going from the serene and mellow Ready, Paint, Fire to a frantic dash to find everything on our list was so fun! Thanks to all of the businesses who participated including the Mountain Goat, The Joy of Sox, Molly Jack’s, and especially to Mountain Top Cookies who provided us with much needed energy to complete the hunt!

Obviously after all this commotion we needed some food. Chris, Eric, and the kind team at one of Breckenridge’s classic Restaurants, Downstairs at Eric’s warmly welcomed us in for delicious pizza and apps. It was exactly what needed, thank you so much for your warmth, kindness, and YUMMY food!

The Underworld Arcade connected to Eric’s was the next destination CFMN would conquer. Geoff, Chris, and Fara were so kind to provide the crew with hours of entertainment in their incredible fun zone. The volunteers were all over this as well and loved getting beaten in every arcade game, basketball, an skee-ball by people a quarter their age (if not younger). Thank you so much for all the fun!

The rest of the night would be spent with board games, charades, and lots of laughter. Thank you everyone who supported us and helped make this another wonderful event for the Club Forget Me Not family. WE ARE SO GRATEFUL FOR OUR COMMUNITY!

The snow was lovely, and soft enough for some CFMN members to launch themselves off jumps. Smiles were plentiful, sledding speeds monumental, hot chocolate was flowing, and wonderful times were had by all. Thank you to all of the Club Forget Me Not family for making this event a success! BOEC December Forget Me Not Adventures http://clubforgetmenot.org/2022/12/12/boec-december-forget-me-not-adventures/ Mon, 12 Dec 2022 16:36:32 +0000 http://clubforgetmenot.org/?p=1202 A beautiful Breckenridge December weekend gave the family at Club Forget Me Not perfect scenery to enjoy a winter adventure together. As always, The Breckenridge Outdoor Education Center provided great times and wonderful memories for campers and staff alike.

Games, Games, Games! There were so many fun games and excitement. A wonderful snowshoe hike on Breckenridge Mountain was filled with sunshine, smiles, and laughs. Then an Olympics of games that surely brought out our competitive sides while looking completely ridiculous, silly, and overflowing with laughter. But you do what you gotta do when there are amazing prizes at stake. We sure did eat well too, with burritos the size of Jaxon, a Dutch Oven pizza cookoff that left judges with a challenge of picking a winner between 3 excellent options including a gingerbread shaped pizza, stuffed crust, and the always debated pineapple on pizza topic, and obviously finishing the night with S’mores!

Thank you everyone for making this event happen. It was a complete success! Thanks to the crew at the BOEC (Claire, Melissa, Mark, Kendra and everyone behind the scenes), CFMN volunteers, the families of our campers for getting the kiddos up to Breckenridge, and of course, those always spirited and high energy campers for being so awesome! We hope everyone has a fantastic holiday, thank you again for being a part of Club Forget Me Not.

Below are a few of the highlight photos, but please click here to see all the photos from the weekend!

Shredding the Nordic Gnar! http://clubforgetmenot.org/2022/04/07/shredding-the-nordic-gnar/ Thu, 07 Apr 2022 18:16:00 +0000 http://clubforgetmenot.org/?p=1146 While we may have spent as much time laying on the snow as we did Nordic skiing, it was an awesome day. The snow was perfect, sun was out, and smiles as always were bountiful. As we bounced around the Frisco Nordic Center, shredders of all abilities supported each other, picked one another up (literally and emotionally), and raced around with great joy. The fun continued after skiing at Ollie’s where we laughed and ate very well. An amazing little Saturday with the family of Club Forget Me Not!

Thanks Frisco Nordic Center, volunteers, and most importantly the families for making this an outstanding Club Forget Me Not event. Updates on our next activity coming soon! Thanks family and happy Spring!

Bowling Event a Strike for Forget Me Not http://clubforgetmenot.org/2022/01/17/bowling-event-a-strike-for-forget-me-not/ Mon, 17 Jan 2022 18:22:59 +0000 http://clubforgetmenot.org/?p=1103 The last event of 2021 was a bowling and holiday pizza party at Wild Game Entertainment in Evergreen, Colorado. So much fun was had as club members, families, and volunteers tossed balls down the alley. We laughed, danced, and bowled. Smiles as always were plentiful.

A huge thank you to the families for finding time during the busy holiday season to connect. Another big thank you to the crew at Wild Game Entertainment, you went above and beyond to take care of us. You were so kind, thoughtful, and fun! We look forward to coming back again and enjoying another fun event with you.

Enjoy the photos everyone and keep an eye out for an event this winter with Club Forget Me Not! Grateful for all of you and can’t wait to connect again soon. Enjoy the photos, sorry they are little blurry, you were all just moving around too fast to catch, or maybe you are just blurry? 🙂

Welcome Back Club Forget Me Not! http://clubforgetmenot.org/2021/09/12/1061/ Sun, 12 Sep 2021 23:52:53 +0000 http://clubforgetmenot.org/?p=1061 WOW! Did we ever miss the Club Forget Me Not family. Perfect weather, lots of smiles, and great adventure, felt like the good old days. The YMCA in Granby was host to the Fall CFMN retreat. Thanks to all the campers who came out to have some fun in the mountains. As always, this is a teamwork-makes-dream-work event so thank you to the volunteers, families, and everyone who chipped in to make this a great Forget Me Not outing. Great to see our veteran campers and staff and welcome some new faces.

Per usual we were going a million miles an hour with exciting activities. Puzzles and games, tie-dying shirts and bandanas, planting all of our favorite flowers (Forget Me Nots, duh), yard-game party, frisbee, and smores were just a PART of the fun on Saturday. Capping off the evening with pizza, a bonfire and a movie led to sleepy campers and volunteers. Up and ready to roll Sunday morning a beautiful waterfall hike before reconnecting with our families concluded the fantastic weekend.

Another stress-relieving, fun, therapeutic activity was writing private messages on dinner plates of things we were frustrated with and wanted to let go as well as our foundations and gratitudes of love. Then, with HUGE grins we enjoyed smashing these plates as a way of letting go. It was beautiful and therapeutic. We highly recommend (safely) doing this.

Thanks again to the campers for being so brave, courageous and entertaining! Please share these photos and we look forward to seeing you all in December for another excellent outing. Click here for All of the Photos from the weekend! There are a lot of great ones. Below are just a few, but please check out the link above 🙂

Elf, Yummy Treats, and Virtual Coziness Together http://clubforgetmenot.org/2020/12/16/elf-yummy-treats-and-virtual-coziness-together/ Wed, 16 Dec 2020 02:51:01 +0000 http://clubforgetmenot.org/?p=1043 “It’s just nice to meet another human who shares my affinity for elf culture.”  We were just a bunch of cotton-headed ninny muggins having a fun night watching a movie together, far apart. We may not be able to do our normal holiday festivities, but the virtual Elf watch party was joyful, and cozy. Despite being spread across the state Buddy connected us and would have loved all sugar we had!

To accompany the craziness of Elf, “home campers” were all given gift bags to enhance the overall cozy-factor. The bags included all kinds of tasty treats, cozy blankets and socks, hot coco, and extra love.

While of course we all wish we could be together, 2020 has been an exercise in making the most of every situation. While there may be much that is lacking this holiday season, there is also so much to be grateful for. Thanks everyone for adapting and making this watch party a special night!

A few of you were asking about some recipes from the gift bags. My mother, Judy Mikita, was kind enough to make me a cookbook of family recipes that really belong to the world. The Caramel Corn is my great Aunt Ella’s recipe, I love the family history of it, but swap the margarine out for butter! 🙂

Buckeyes are an Ohio tradition and make wonderful snacks for any movie night or event. The Buckeye is the state tree of Ohio, and produces a poisonous nut and beautiful pink flowers. Don’t worry, these are safe (unless you have a nut allergy, the avoid). But these are a staple of Ohio but beloved by all! Again, I substitute out the margarine for butter, and coconut oil for shortening, and sometimes dark chocolate and almond butter, chef’s choice. And notice how my mom, in her perfect English teacher cursive, told me to “use clean hands…” I did.

Enjoy, grateful for all of you, Happy Holidays from Club Forget Me Not!

Even Masks Can’t Cover Up These Smiles http://clubforgetmenot.org/2020/11/13/even-masks-cant-cover-up-these-smiles/ Fri, 13 Nov 2020 19:48:28 +0000 http://clubforgetmenot.org/?p=830 Masks and social distancing in place, the family from Club Forget Me Not gathered for fun, connections, and adventure at the Breckenridge Outdoor Education Center. During these crazy CoVid times it is so important that we remember that we need to be connecting. While that may take on a different look than in the past, true, deep, and authentic connection can still occur.

Thanks for to the BOEC, volunteers, and most importantly the families for making this a wonderful day together. We need one another now more than ever, so keep reaching out to one another, supporting, laughing, crying, adventuring, just because it needs to be done safer or with some restrictions doesn’t mean that quality connection needs to stop. Get creative, find new ways to build relationships and support each other, we need it!

The club that no one wants to join, but is really glad exists when they do is stronger than ever. This is a result of our veteran families and our new families coming together to make one bigger, stronger, goofier, and more amazing family. Thanks everyone for making our first pandemic event a total success! We will see you soon…

White Out Blizzard Sledding Anyone? http://clubforgetmenot.org/2019/12/17/white-out-blizzard-sledding-anyone/ Tue, 17 Dec 2019 01:42:00 +0000 http://clubforgetmenot.org/?p=734 It may have been a cold and blustery day for our sledding adventure, but warm smiles and hot coco kept us all cozy and joyful. After a four foot snow storm forced us to cancel the camp (to be rescheduled), everyone adapted and made for a great afternoon. With that much snow what are Colorado people suppose to do, PLAY!!!!!

Of course the casual sledding quickly turned into rocket speeds, sick air off jumps, and sled-trains of grinning Forget-Me-Notters. Our stomachs were hurting from laughing so much at all the fun. A great holiday season reminder that we are all grateful to have one another.

Thanks everyone for making it such a great event and being willing to adapt. We will keep you posted on our rescheduled camp event. Have a wonderful holiday season, and a happy and healthy everyday!

Below are a few of the highlights and here is a link to all the amazing pictures.
